I have to admit, I am a bit confused.
When I first saw the recipe for vegan chocolate donuts, I thought to myself that they must be the worst thing ever.
I also thought that these chocolate donut cakes were made with animal products.
I am sure that most of you reading this have tried these delicious donuts and found that they are not vegan.
However, if you are like me and have a passion for food and veganism, you will love these delicious chocolate donutt cakes.
Vegan Chocolate Donut Cake Recipe 1.6 pounds ground flaxseeds 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1/4 cup maple syrup 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 1/3 cup vegan chocolate chips or chocolate chips 2 eggs, beaten 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 cups unsweeten, unsweeted almond milk, plus extra for sprinkling 1 cup milk 1 tsp coconut oil for glaze 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon 1/16 tsp baking soda 1/6 tsp ground cloves 1/10 tsp ground ginger 1/1 cup vegan dark chocolate chips, for topping 2 tablespoons butter, melted Directions In a large bowl, whisk together the flaxseed and almond milk.
In a separate bowl, mix together the maple syrup, baking powder, salt, and vanilla.
Slowly whisk in the flour and mix until well combined.
Add in the eggs and beat until well mixed.
Slowly add in the dry ingredients, beating just until combined.
With a rubber spatula, gently fold in the wet ingredients until combined and incorporated.
Fold in the coconut oil.
Stir until combined well.
Divide batter evenly into 6-8 8 inch cake pans, leaving enough space between each cake pan.
Bake the cakes at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
For the glaze, whisk the butter, powdered sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl until well blended.
Remove from the heat.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the cake.
Top with the glazed donuts.
