The biggest chocolate cakes in the world may not be found in the U.S., but it is a global phenomenon, according to an annual study of more than 3,000 desserts.
The findings by the World Chocolate Council’s Global Research Institute were released Wednesday and found the UK ranked No. 1 in terms of the number of chocolate cakes sold in 2014.
The U.K. also led in the number selling cakes with a value of $1,500 or more, the report said.
“Britain and France were the biggest markets for chocolate cake in 2014, followed by France and Italy,” the report says.
“In total, the U, U.A.E., the U., the United States, and Mexico each had over 1 million chocolate cake sales in 2014.”
Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U-K.
have more than 1 million cake sales.
In terms of chocolate cake, the UK was the largest market, followed closely by Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
