Mix your flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
Add your milk, egg and vanilla extract to this mixture.
Using a fork, slowly stir the mixture until you get a doughnut dough, about a quarter-inch thick.
Using the back of a fork or your hands, transfer this doughnut to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 350°F for about 12 to 15 minutes.
Then, flip the doughnuts over and bake for another 10 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and crisp.
Serve with a chocolate icing, a dollop of chocolate chips or a sprinkle of sugar.
Recipe Notes Chocolate chips are the easiest and most versatile to make from scratch, and the most common to buy.
Make them by adding 1 cup to a saucepan and stirring until it becomes thick and syrupy.
This recipe is a bit easier, but still delicious.
I like to use coconut milk, which can be purchased online.
It gives a nice rich texture.
